Collective Impact for the Elderly in Israel

A cross-sector network of partners dedicated to improving the quality of life and addressing the issue of loneliness in the elderly community

קשישים עם מסכות נגד קורונה

e first wave of the corona virus in Israel raised public awareness of the elderly population and the difficulties they face. Sheatufim and Zionism 2000 partnered with other organizations to establish a crisis response operation called Veshamarta, to increase the resilience of elderly residents in nursing homes in Israel.

At the end of the operation, in view of the need that arose from the field, it was decided to continue promoting the issue of improving the quality of life and dealing with the loneliness of the elderly in Israel. A new initiative based on the Collective Impact model was formed in order to create systemic solutions.

Our Goals

• Establishing a cross-sector task force of organizations (government, business and social organizations) and experts with an interest in the field of the elderly in Israel.
• Building consensus regarding an innovative conception of aging, old age and the elderly in Israel.
• Reaching consensus with all stakeholders on common goals, setting clear objectives and indicators, and strategic directions of action.
• Implementing an action plan for significantly improving the quality of life of the elderly in Israel, with regard to the short term (in the context of the corona virus) and especially with regard to the long term.

Current Status

The start-up phase of the initiative began in the first half of 2021, including engaging stakeholders from the business, public and social sectors as well as researchers and experts in the field.
