The Young Adults Authority Participation Process
Establishing a National Program for Young Adults in Israel
The Youth Authority in the Ministry for Social Equality was established pursuant to Government Decision No. 2880 of July 23, 2017, in order to promote the interests of the young population (aged 18-35) in Israel, to help realize their potential, to increase their involvement in public affairs and in recognition of their potential to bring impetus to social and economic growth.
The Authority was commissioned to submit a national program for young adults in Israel for the Government's approval, with the support of Sheatufim.
The national program is a significant step in implementing the Authority’s vision: "Young adults in Israel will actualize their abilities, feel a connection to society and the state, and will become a driving force, influencing and making a contribution to society and to the economy." The program will deal with a variety of areas of content relevant to young adults, with an emphasis on governmental and non-governmental mechanisms and work interfaces.
In order to formulate a plan that is connected to the needs, of young adults in Israel, the Ministry for Social Equality is conducting a series of consultations with young adults and with professionals and organizations active in the field. The purpose of the consultation is to broaden the perspective and add voices from the field to the staff work that is being carried out in order to formulate an effective and feasible national plan.
The consultations will focus on the following issues: enabling “the voices of young adults” to be heard in government circles and giving them representation at the decision-making centers; increasing participation and social involvement of young adults in Israel; coordinating the work of the central and local government and the interfaces between them in relation to the young, as well as interface with civil society organizations and business organizations in this regard; and content areas that ocupy young adults in everyday life.
The consultation process will consist of face to face meetings throughout the country and online consultation processes, with the participation of a variety of communities: young men and women, non-profit organizations and civil society activists, government ministries and public organizations, business executives, experts from the academic world etc. As part of the process, selected parts of the work on the national program will be presented and consultations will be held regarding possible outcomes and directions of action.
